ANGRBODA: the ice giant presented in marvel

The Mother of Fenrir, Jormungand, and Hell who reigns over the world of the dead

In Norse mythology, the giant Angrboda is the most evil and malicious of the entire Jötunn race, it is described as having hair the colour of dried blood. She was the first wife of the God Loki, and with him begat a great number of monsters and creatures, eternal enemies of the Viking Gods and human beings. According to legend, the cursed union of a god and a Jötunn will cause the worst offspring of all creation, which is why the God Odin will forever forbid the union of Loki and Angrboda, although he recognizes a true and sincere love between the two beings.
But the God Loki, openly disobeying Odin, met the ice giant, with her he had monstrous children, including three real punishments for everything that exists.

The monsters of Norse mythology

The wolf Fenrir and the snake Jörmungand, will become true enemies of the Gods, and the Goddess Hel, locked herself in a very morbid neutrality, indeed death has no camp, and strikes all factions. For his part, Angrboda raised his children for the sole purpose and mission of destroying the Gods, and their favorite beings created in their images: the Humans. She moved away from her daughter when she understood her divine nature, as well as her neutrality that applies her role in the cosmic and cyclical order of things.

The monstrous giant remained Loki's wife until the Goddess Freya met Loki and the Goddess Sigyn, the most faithful of all goddesses and carrying Loki in pity. Although the goal behind Freya's manoeuvre was to sever the relationship between Loki and his monstrous children, to weaken the power of these creatures, it is nonetheless the result of a strong and enduring love. When she learned of this, Angrboda threatened Freyja with terrible revenge, and that after they met, the face of the most beautiful woman in the universe would be unrecognizable, an ugliness in the eyes of all. She will therefore be one of the main enemies of the Gods at the Ragnarök.

The Battle of the Ragnarok

Angrboda will face the Goddess Freya at Ragnarök, the beautiful Freyja will be helped by her Valkyries, after a hundred losses among her warriors, Freya will give up her invulnerability to dazzle Angrboda with all the power of the sun and make the deadly blow of her sword. The Jötunne was killed instantly, but Freya died of her injuries a few minutes later. Freyja will be one of the deities behind Balder, at the exit of Helheim, she will thus regain her role as goddess.
